Have you guessed it by now? Yeah, this is
made of Pistachio shells and acrylic paint! I got this idea while pondering on
how to incorporate a 3 dimensional element into a piece of art and yet keep it
sustainable,in the sense that i would not have to waste paper. while walking
around my house to find something of that sort,i found a pack pistachio nuts
and eureka! i got the idea to use the shells. After finishing up the nuts, i
realized a few problems that might arise when using the nuts,it might actually
turn moldy after some time. so i did some research online and decided to wash
the shells thoroughly and spray bleach followed by vinegar on them.after which
i had to think of a design in which shells will stand out. After finishing the
design and painting,i realized the shells lacked shine. i also noticed that the
shells resembled nails and i decided to use nail gloss to give it some shine!!
Hope you like this design! This currently decorates a wall in my room
which was initially empty...

Abstract 1
This piece of abstract art was inspired by henna designs and i did on an Indian and floral based theme. the difficulty here was to be careful about overlapping the various patterns for themt o combine and eventuall look nice. i also decided to do shading on it to make it look a little more lively and not too flat.
Abstract 2
This was a piece of abstract art on a canvas for my sister who is 12 years of age to hang in her room.i used bright colours to suit the child like character of her room. i found it a little hard to use watercolor paint on canvas as it did not stick on too well but i turned it into an advantage by varying the tone of the colours.
Still Life Drawing!
This was my best attempt at still life drawing. Since i have never done it before, i had to read up on shadowing techniques, highlighting techniques, sketching and observation techniques to produce this drawings, after many failed attempts, this was the best i could produce.
Technical Drawing !
As mentioned in my essay,i signed up for Interior Design Part Time Certificate Course in NAFA during my holiday. I was very interested to learn how to design space and various aspects concerning the design of space. So far, i have completed the modules on Technical Drawing and Computer Drafting and I am currently attending the modules on Colour Perspectives and Model Making. the following are my darwings and drafts from my lessons.
This was my first drawing,i learnt about cutting planes, elevation lines, dimensions and on top of all,the importance of technical drawings. i learnt that these are actually legal documents and they have to be done accurately. I faced the difficulty of drawing really straight lines by holding the T square really firmly to the drawing board. i also had to bear in mind to draw from left to right and draw top to left. i also had remember which pens to use for which lines.
These were metric projections and i learnt about the angles of elevation for each projection.
This is a drawing on materials symbols and during this lesson i could learn so much about materials used in a building and its various properties and where each material is used.the difficulty about this task is the remember the details in each material and actually using the right pen to draw the details accurately.
This drawing on Plan and Sectional elevations of a room was the toughest to draw for me. it was because of the large amount of details that had to be taken care of and many dimensions that had to be precise too. i had to do it over a span of few days since it had many line weights overlapping and i had to be make sure they do not smudge.Despite being cautious i smudged a few lines and i had to use blades to scrape the ink off, which was a arduous task.
This is the furniture layout plan of the room and this task was not too tough in the sense that i did not have to keep changing line weights, but there were many dimensions that had to taken care of and many dimension lines to be drawn.special attention also had to be given to the labeling of the furniture.
This drawing was a pretty easy one because it was only the elevation and line weight was almost constant throughout the drawing.
This was also another elevation and it was not too hard but i had to be careful about the line weights throughout though.
This was the axonometric projection of the room which the drawings were for previously.the tough part was that we had to stick to the furniture plan given to us,so i only had space to design the details of the room, like the design of the wardrobe, where i inserted shelves instead of using the 3 doors wardrobe.i designed the digital clock and the wall hanging to give the room a funky look. other than that, line weights had to be taken care and drawing the axonometric position of the room was a difficult task and required close to 10 attempts for me to get it right.
This is a screenshot of the house that i designed in the computer drafting Module using AUTOCAD 2D
Portraits!
Mrs Smith!
I tried my hand at portrait drawing and decided to draw the beautiful Angelina Jolie,my favorite actress! portrait drawing is very new to me and this is my best attempt at it!
Hermoine Granger
this would be a portrait of actress Emma Watson. i found this a little easier to do after practicing with previous portrait!
Bottle of Landmarks!
This is a used Starbucks Frappuccino bottle, after
finishing the drink, while admiring the shape of the bottle, i thought of
designing something on it,while looking for an inspiration, looking at the starbucks logo,i realized the
omnipresence of the franchise in many countries and i decided to draw on it my
favorite architectural landmarks, around the world. then i realized that i
cannot leave with just the marker drawings because, since the bottle is
transparent, the drawings on the opposite sides sort of overlap while looking at
drawings the other side,so i decided to paint on the bottle colours that would
bring out the drawings. But painting on top of the bottle does not give the
natural effect thus i painted on the inside of the bottle, using the brush and
inserting my hand as deep as possible to reach the bottom to paint was a
challenging task but i managed to complete it!
